Professional editing is the most important investment you can make in your story.
Readers are more likely to stop reading a book that contains errors or typos. An editor can not only help you spot those typos, but can elevate your work by checking for clarity, pacing, tone, and more! A great editor makes your unique voice more impactful for your reader.
Good news! Professional editing doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg! As a professional editor with eight years of experience and an indie author whose work has benefitted from the expertise of editors, Sarah Faeth Sanders is committed to providing high-quality AND affordable editing.

Developmental Editing
.006c per word
Developmental editing focuses on the “big picture” issues of your story, including plot, character development, structure, and form. Developmental edits include in-line comments on your manuscript as well as a thorough feedback document with suggestions for further development of your story, sensitivity issues that require further attention, and tips for marketing your book. Developmental editing does not include corrections to grammar, tone, word choice, typos, rewrites, etc.
Line Editing
.009c per word
Line editing gets into the “nitty gritty” details of your story. It includes thorough edits with attention to grammar, spelling, typos, tone, tense, word choice, clarity, repetition, inconsistency, and more. It also includes minor rewrites. I strive to preserve your unique voice while ensuring your story is clear, compelling, and enjoyable for your reader. Edited manuscripts come with tracked changes, in-line comments, and a separate document with general feedback regarding editing as well as beta feedback for your manuscript (what I loved, what your readers will love, and my suggestions).
Developmental + Line Edits
.015c per word
Get the best of both worlds! This service includes all of the services listed under developmental editing and line editing. You will receive your manuscript with changes tracked and in-line comments, as well as a document with suggestions for further development of your story and beta feedback. Because developmental editing is often followed by substantial changes to your manuscript, this service includes a second pass edit. After you review your edited manuscript and developmental suggestions and make changes to your manuscript, you’ll send back the manuscript for a second pass of line edits at no additional cost to ensure a polished final manuscript ready for publication.
